Task Force on South and West Asian Women

This task force chaired by Rakhshanda Saleem aims to provide a feminist understanding of the concerns of women from the predominantly Muslim countries of South and West Asia - also known as Southwest Asia. Its purpose is to develop an inclusive understanding of the diversity and complexity of the ethnic and cultural contexts that underlie the lives of Arab, Iranian and South Asian women, as opposed to the reductive stereotypes through which they are all too often seen. In addition, the role of Islamophobia and its impact on women from these regions will be explored to understand the need for nuanced international and translational feminist responses and solidarity in the current geopolitical moment.
